Some insight into Trevor

Igers Coventry & Warwickshire Community Leader, Trevor Price aka TV Trev considers himself a bit of a jack of all trades who stumbled into the world of photography and relished in all that it offered. Here’s a little bit about him that you may or may not know.

What got you into photography?

When I was younger back at university I remember getting a camera to take pictures when I was in New York (this was before camera phones are what they are now) and I would like to say the pictures are now hanging on my walls but honestly looking back at them now I am shocked at how bad they were. This was not what got me into photography, but is an example of where I started. A few years after this I started a blog which got me exploring different things, one of them being cosplay & comic conventions. Part of that world crosses over with photography and I found that I became pretty good at shooting the many different toys on show at these events as well as the cosplays using my camera phone.

Why did you get involved with the igers community?

My explorations as a blogger meant that I was open to any and all opportunities to grow my skills as well as meet creative people. This lead to a chance meeting with now fellow Community Leader Regan at a convention where she told me about a local igers community which I might be interested in.

Why & how did you become a Community Leader?

Honestly it was a happy accident that I became a Community Leader for Igers Coventry & Warwickshire. When I joined the team I believe it was just Jamie and Regan, but since then we have been able to grow the team, community and collaborators across the area. I simply wanted to be part of that journey of growth and help people connect with others.

Why should people look to join in on Igers Coventry & Warwickshire events and the community as a whole?

Anyone who knows me will know I’m actually a shy person, who has luckily become more confident through communities of creative individuals including Igers Coventry & Warwickshire. Our events are largely open to all, where we encourage people of all levels to enjoy the places we go to or events we’ve been invited to. The fact that they tend to be free and sometimes a different view of places you might not usually get is an added bonus.

What was your first instameet like?

I remember a feeling of belonging even though at the time I didn’t have a camera only my phone, I was able to come away knowing I had learnt something new. A lot of the people I met at that first meet I still follow and talk to today, years later.

What do you do outside of Igers Coventry & Warwickshire?

Outside of photography I have a multitude of interests which I battle to keep up with. I have a day job in marketing, then I also do photography & videography as a side gig, voluntarily I am comms lead for TEDxCoventry, and I also run 2 blogs. Sleep is optional…

What would be your dream location to shoot in Coventry & Warwickshire and why?

Dream location…I would say there are a few but as I like portrait photography most I would say a BTS shoot at Belgrade Theatre with a group of their performers which is a meet which I don’t believe we have quite managed to arrange yet.

What have you learned/gained?

If you asked me a few years ago if I would be getting paid to shoot photos when I’m not at instameets I would have laughed but they have given me the room to explore different types of photography and the confidence to help businesses showcase themselves with my work.
